Flint fire hopes to upgrade equipment with new federal grant dollars
(05/29/17) - The Flint Fire Department will soon be able to purchase new equipment and protective gear after receiving a $267,000 federal grant.
The Mayor and Fire Chief will make the official announcement at City Hall Tuesday morning.
Chief Raymond Barton told us last fall that 33 of their 45 oxygen tanks were purchased in 2004, making them nearly 13 years old.
The Agency also just received a SAFER grant, which allows them to keep all of their current firefighters and potentially hire a few more.
