FLINT (WJRT) (2/8/2018) - A Flint police officer pulled an elderly man from a house fire on the city's west side Thursday morning.

The fire was reported around 10:30 a.m. in the 2700 block of Wolcott Street. The police officer was on the scene first and found heavy smoke coming from the house.

The officer entered the smoke-filled house and grabbed the victim, who was the only person home when the fire broke out. The victim was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition.

The Flint Fire Department arrived soon after the rescue. By then, flames had consumed much of the main floor and spread into the attic.

Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior attack to knock down most of the flames within 20 minutes of the fire being reported. They searched the house for more victims, but didn't find any more.

Fire crews were still on the scene dousing hot spots and cleaning up more than an hour after the fire broke out.
