FLINT (WJRT) (5/6/2019) - The Flint Police Department was chasing a car that crashed into five family members in a Chevrolet Impala late Thursday, injuring all of them.

An officer attempted to pull over the suspect's 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix for a traffic violation around 10:55 p.m., but the driver took off northbound on Dort Highway from Kansas Avenue.

Police say the driver ran several traffic lights while fleeing at a high rate of speed up Dort Highway. He lost control near the intersection of Dort Highway and Franklin Avenue, colliding with a 2007 Chevrolet Impala heading south.

Police say the five people in the Impala were taken to Hurley Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. All were released by Monday afternoon.

The Pontiac driver was arrested at the scene and taken to Hurley Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries before police took him to the Flint City Lockup.

Investigators are still determining whether the Pontiac driver was intoxicated when the crash happened. He had not been arraigned on any charges by Monday afternoon.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Flint police at 810-237-6899.
