FLUSHING (WJRT) (3/28/2018) - New solar arrays being installed at all seven schools in the Flushing Community Schools district are expected to generate most of the power for the buildings.
They also are expected to save the district about $45,000 per year on energy costs, according to Solar Power World.
The district is partnering with Standard Solar to install enough solar panels to generate 1.1 megawatts of electricity. The company will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the solar arrays.
Solar panels will be installed on the roofs of five schools and on the ground outside two schools. The project is slated to be complete by the fall, Solar Power World reported.
