Frankenmuth (WJRT) (1/8/18) - The Frankenmuth business community is growing. Businesses are starting to move in to a new development on the north edge of town. Uptown North Main is located on M-83 at Roedel Road. It's office and retail space that is needed because of Frankenmuth's growing economy.
One of the first businesses to move in is Healthy Habitz, a health food store that until the end of 2017 was located in downtown Frankenmuth.
"Our lease was ending and we were looking for a new place to reside in Frankenmuth and this place was one of our options," said Caitlin Hauser-Esper, co-owner of Healthy Habitz.
Uptown North Main has 16,000 square feet. Neighborhood Mortgage Company is located there as are a number of small businesses.
"There's floor space available. There are development sites available and there is expansion opportunity," said Sheila Stamiris of the Frankenmuth DDA.
Healthy Habitz opened last week. In addition to health food they are selling bulk food and exploring more ways to make sure customers are happy.
"We are looking to focus on more services, more one on one consults so that we can teach customers how to make the right choices for themselves," said Hauser-Esper.
"Everybody wins in this. We're delight to have them here," said Stamiris.
Healthy Habitz had been located downtown for twenty years. They're hopeful customers will look for them at the new site.
"We hope they will seek us out and make the mile and a half drive to this location," said Hauser-Esper.
Healthy Habitz moved from downtown because the building owner Judy Zehnder has big plans for that site.
