(12/20/2016) - Published reports say General Motors is expected to send out nearly 1,300 layoff notices to Michigan workers.
The company has announced plans to eliminate the second shift at it's Detroit Hamtramck Assembly Plant. It was disclosed in a state regulatory filing late Monday.
Layoffs are expected to start in the beginning of March with 600 regular workers, and 670 temporary workers, expected to lose their job. This after GM also announces plans to temporarily close 5 production plants as the automaker tries to reduce an inventory of cars.
