Genesee County Health Department opening Medicaid dental clinic in Flint

FLINT (WJRT) (2/21/2018) - The Genesee County Health Department is bringing a new option for Medicaid recipients or patients with any insurance to obtain dental care.

The health department has partnered with My Community Dental Centers Inc. to open a new clinic at G4007 W. Court St. in Flint. The clinic will open in March.

The center will provide dental care to children and adults enrolled in Medicaid, including Healthy Kids Dental, Healthy Michigan Plan and private dental insurance.

People without dental insurance can enroll in the My Dental Program, which offers reduced fees based on income. An initial exam with X-rays will be $39 under the program.

The six-chair Flint dental center will provide comprehensive dental services, including oral exam/cleanings, fillings, tooth removal, partials, dentures and other dental procedures.

The health department says lack of access to dental care for Medicaid and uninsured residents often leads to emergency room visits when an oral emergency happens.

“This new center will be a much needed asset in the community” stated John McKellar, acting health officer for Genesee County. “We look forward to partnering with MCDC and having this new resource available to the Genesee County service area.”

The dental center will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment call 1-877-313-6232 or visit the MCDC website at
