GRAND BLANC (WJRT) (4/26/2019) - Anyone looking for a job with Grand Blanc Community Schools should mark their calendars for May 22.

The district is hosting a hiring fair for teaching and several support staff positions. It will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Tartoni Center gym in the Grand Blanc High School East Campus.

There are dozens of current and anticipated vacancies in all departments at the schools. On-site interviews are planned for many of the available jobs.

Teaching positions require a college degree and state certification, but some jobs don't require any experience. Job seekers should bring a resume if they have one, but they are not required.

Openings are available in the following areas:
-- Dining Services
-- Maintenance, Custodial and Grounds
-- Security
-- Certified Teaching and Administration
-- Substitute Teaching
-- Transportation bus drivers
-- Children’s Garden Early Childhood & Latchkey
-- Clerical & Para-pro
-- Elementary, Middle and High School buildings

District workers can help steer job seekers to the area where they might have the most interest. Most positions come with a flexible schedule, paid sick time and vacations, weekends and holidays off, and even summers off.

Some positions aren't directly with the district. Contractors like Knight Facilities Management, LaGarda Security, EDUStaff and Century will also be at the job fair to fill positions in Grand Blanc.

Administrators say parents, retirees and college students might find jobs with the district that fit their needs and schedules.

Anyone hired must be fingerprinted and submit to a full criminal background check to work in a K-12 school. Call 810-591-1695 for more information.
