SHEPHERD (WJRT) (2/13/2019) - The driver of a tanker hauling propane suffered serious injuries Tuesday evening when he rear-ended a Gratiot County Road Commission plow.

Both trucks were traveling north on U.S. 127 near the Gratiot-Isabella county line around 8:55 p.m. when the snow plow slowed to enter an emergency turnaround and head back south.

Police say the Blarney Castle tanker truck was traveling too fast for conditions and slammed into the back of the plow.

Firefighters had to extricate the tanker driver before he was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Gratiot for treatment of serious injuries. The snow plow driver did not report any serious injuries.

The southbound lanes of U.S. 127 were closed for about two hours from M-46 to Blanchard Road while police investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
