MIDLAND COUNTY (WJRT) (3/12/2019) - Blue, the pit bull mix from Florida found in Midland nine days ago, has a new home.
Hours after arriving back to the Humane Society of Midland County from Florida, where Blue's owner decided she couldn't take her back, a willing owner stepped forward to adopt her.
Blue was found in Midland County on March 3, but officials are unsure how she traveled the 1,400 miles from her former home in Lehigh Acres in southwestern Florida up to Michigan.
Humane society officials contacted Blue's owner in Florida, who initially was happy to welcome her home. Two volunteers drove 1,400 miles to Florida to bring Blue back home.
However, Blue's owner had a change of circumstances while they were on the two-day drive and wasn't able to welcome her back. So the volunteers brought Blue back to Michigan.
They arrived at the Humane Society of Midland County around 11 a.m. Tuesday and Blue's new owner came to adopt her around noon. Officials say her new owner was one of the original applicants to offer her a forever home.
Blue, a 1-year-old puppy, will need some training.
