GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) (1/3/2019) - A stretch of State Road in Shiawassee County was closed Thursday morning after a serious head-on crash police are blaming on slick roads.

Michigan State Police investigators on the scene say a pickup truck trying to drive up an incline on State Road near Bennington Road south of Corunna hit a patch of ice and slid into the oncoming lane.

A minivan headed in the opposite direction crashed into it.

The 80-year-old man driving the minivan was seriously injured and airlifted from the scene to an area hospital. The 21-year-old in the pickup truck did not report serious injuries.

State Road was closed while authorities investigated the crash and cleared the scene. The roadway has since reopened.
