UNDATED (WJRT) - (08/23/16) - On this day in 1991, a special piece of technology was released for the first time - the World Wide Web.

Twenty-five years ago, a British scientist granted the general public access to the web.

The special day is known as "Internaut Day".

The Internet and the World Wide Web are not the same thing.

The Internet was first connected in 1969 and is a network of computers that are connected. The World Wide Web refers to the space on that network where information is stored, such as web pages and documents.

Hard to think we ever lived without it!
