FLINT (WJRT) (4/12/2018) - The assistant superintendent for Kearsley Community Schools is receiving a promotion to the top job effective July 1.
The Kearsley school board voted to hire Kevin Walworth to become the new superintendent beginning on July 1, after current Superintendent Patti Yorks retires.
“Kevin has a wealth of experience in educational administration,” Yorks said. “In addition, and probably most importantly, he has the heart and passion for this role. He loves Kearsley and will dedicate himself to continuing to make Kearsley a great place for our kids.”
Walworth graduated from Kearsley High School and completed his student teaching in the district while pursuing his bachelor's degree. He then was hired to a teaching position at Armstrong Middle School.
He was appointed assistant principal of Kearsley High School in 1998, principal in 2003 and assistant superintendent in 2012.
“I am excited about having the opportunity to continue the work that Patti has begun in moving our district forward,” Walworth said. “She has been a wonderful leader for our district and I will sorely miss our daily interactions and her guidance and wisdom.”
