GENESEE TOWNSHIP (WJRT) (1/8/2019) - Kearsley Community Schools are informing parents that a student at the high school has contracted MRSA.
MRSA is a bacterial infection of the skin that can be difficult to treat because it has a high resistance to certain antibiotics.
In a statement the district says they have one confirmed case of the illness. Administrators say they spoke with the Genessee County Health Department and were told "there are no special things we need to do and the student may attend school as long as the affected area is covered."
The risk of spreading of MRSA can be lowered by washing hands and by not sharing personal items.
