'Little Miss Flint' joining union laborers to pass out bottled water Saturday

FLINT (WJRT) (4/27/2018) - Mari Copeny, who has been dubbed Little Miss Flint, will be passing out bottled water Saturday afternoon with a group of union laborers.

Copeny and her nonprofit Pack Your Back helped raise more than $27,000 online after Gov. Rick Snyder's administration closed the four remaining state-funded bottled water distribution centers on April 6.

She spent that money purchasing 40 pallets of bottled water, which she will pass out beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday in the University of Michigan-Flint parking lot on the corner of Saginaw Street and 5th Avenue.

The distribution will last until 5 p.m. or until supplies run out.

Before that, volunteers for Laborers Local 1098 will help unload the water and prepare it for distribution beginning at 8:45 a.m.
