FLINT (WJRT) - (02/15/17) - It's the centerpiece to several months of ongoing improvements at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint - here's a first look at the club's refurbished gym floor.
Refinishing and repainting of the basketball court at the organization's Averill Avenue headquarters wrapped up last week.
The gym hosts hundreds of kids after school every day, but with the gym also serving as a donation drop-off hub for the city's water crisis, the wood had seen better days.
"Oh, it just looks so fantastic. We're excited [to] have this done for the kids and they are just thrilled. The salt, the water and everything else, it just took a beating. It needed to be brought back to life again,” said Connie Peters, development director for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint.
Upgrades are also in the works for both the arts and crafts room and cafeteria. The Club hopes a series of fundraisers and grant proposals can make it happen.
