Corunna (WJRT) Mid-Michigan family wins a trip a lifetime, and they weren’t the only ones.

A couple of local authors gave away 30 trips to families, including that one VIP vacation to a Michigan spot voted the number one travel destination in America.

Corunna Cavalier Jack Montgomery and his family were the lucky winners to a special visit to Mackinac Island and stay at the Grand Hotel.

"Really excited,” said Jack Montgomery.
"Very excited, very blessed. I love being part of this state. We have such a great place to visit like that,” Angie Montgomery said.

Benson's Literacy Foundation made this dream a reality.

This foundation was created by two Corunna educators who are also authors of Benson's Adventures in Michigan.

ABC 12 happily partnered up with the authors to bring Project Imagination to schools around our area.

This project gives kids a chance to read and dream big.

Their main character Benson writes about his adventures throughout Michigan, and now these authors are hoping to give these families adventures in our great state.

"I heard they were giving away prizes, but I didn't think it would be anything like this. I thought it was smaller stuff,” Jesse Vannoord said.

These authors have done so much already for the community by taking dozens of kids on explorations of the Sand Dunes, NASA and Hollywood.

So, during the Corunna schools yearly family literacy night, which highlighted everything great about Michigan, these two did their first giveaway of 30 trips around Michigan.

"We never imagined that this would happen. So, we are thrilled we have been a part of this Dreaming Big process,” Benson’s Adventures in Michigan author Tracy Foster said.
"This is an absolute dream come true for us,” Benson’s Adventures in Michigan author Shannon Cooper-Toma said.

These two authors have another book coming out this summer called Benson's Adventures in the U.S.A.
