FLINT (WJRT) - (08/06/2018) - When driving through downtown Flint this week you may notice this sign.
Or you may notice the large tent in front of City Hall.
A group of churches have set up shop for the next week with one mission.

"I would say everybody needs some prayer, everybody needs some love and that's really what we are out here to do,” said John Dailey, pastor at Love From Above in New Baltimore. “Just to reach out love and touch people and see exactly what we can do for them."

The churches invite the community to join them for their “One Voice” event from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with a guest speaker scheduled at 7 p.m. at the Greater Church of Flint. It will run each day until Sunday, August 12 for prayer and worship at the corner of Saginaw St and East 5th Street in Flint.

"People just need hope, there are a lot of people without hope, there's a lot of homeless out here and they just need help or helping people with food or hope in their life," said Ed Watts, pastor at Gateway H.O.P.E Center in Burton.

One Voice is also planning on having a water drive on Saturday as well as a chance to meet the community.

"Saturday we're going to have a community outreach where we'll probably do the BBQ and just give away some food and just kind of love of the community," said Dailey.

Watts has been very pleased with the turnout by the community so far.

"We've had a lot of positive respond, we've had a lot of people come in to the tent and are really encouraged that we're out here just to take time and worship and pray," said Watts.

The event will continue until August 12 when a Closing Rally will be held at 6pm at the Greater Church of Flint.
