(04/02/18) -- Macy's department store at the Genesee Valley Center mall is gearing up for the grand opening of a outlet store, Macy's Backstage, in a couple of weeks.

The off-priced store within a store will feature different kinds of items, including accessories, toys, clothing, shoes, jewelry and home accents -- all at discounted prices.

Macy's Backstage was introduced back in 2015. The new outlet store will occupy 21,800 square feet of retail space on the first level inside the existing Macy's store.

The outlet store will also carry apparel and accessory brands not currently available at Macy's. Expected discounts range from 20 to 80 percent off suggested regular retail prices.

The idea is not only to appeal to current Macy's shoppers, but also to appeal to potential new ones.

"It's exciting just because it is growth for the store, so getting something that's brand new with new merchandise and stuff to buy, I think everyone including the customer and associate will be very excited to have," said Macy's Store Manager April Holliday.

The Flint Township location will be the fourth Backstage location in Michigan and among 53 others nationwide.

The grand opening will be at 10 a.m. April 14, which will include giveaways for the first 200 customers through the door.
