ORION TWP. (WJRT) - (11/20/17) - A massive natural gas fire near Great Lakes Crossing has Brown Road shut down between Joselyn and Baldwin roads.

The glow of orange flames could be seen for miles late Monday evening.

Oakland County officials say it's originating from a natural gas line explosion in Orion Township on the north side of Brown Road.

All of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office 911 lines and non-emergency lines in Oakland County are out as a result of the fire.

The public can call 248-858-4930 for any emergency in lieu of calling 911. Please only call for true emergencies at this time until the 911 lines are restored.

Firefighters are working with utility crews in a controlled burn situation at the scene after shutting off the high-pressure gas line.

It's believed that one home is in jeopardy, but that those inside have gotten out safely. There are some additional mandatory evacuations being ordered in the surrounding area.

Stay with ABC12 overnight and into Tuesday morning for updates.
