MICHIGAN (WJRT) An investigation is underway to figure out how a dog qualified for unemployment compensation.
Ryder, a dog, received a letter from the state's Bureau of Unemployment Insurance saying he qualifies for $360 per week in jobless benefits.
The letter was addressed to Michael Ryder.
Michael is Ryder's owner. He also happens to be an attorney.
He says he knew his dog was clever, but getting unemployment surprised him.
The state says it flagged the letter as a mistake. It's investigating this, and many other fake unemployment claims, which are on rise recently.
