Michigan hospitals docked Medicare payments, due to patient infections

FLINT (WJRT) - (03/07/19) - 24 Michigan hospitals are under fire, including 7 in mid-Michigan. The issue? The number of patients contracting infections, like blood clots, sepsis, and bedsores, once admitted to the hospital.


The nonprofit 'Economic Alliance for Michigan' says hospitals have been punished by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services. Each of them will have their Medicare payments reduced by 1%.

Hurley Medical Center and McLaren, both in Flint, have been penalized for the past 5-years running.
