MONTCALM COUNTY (WJRT) (10/9/2017) - Two years to the day after a Montcalm County sheriff's deputy was shot with an arrow while serving a warrant, he returned to the job.

Deputy Michael Kotenko was trying to arrest 40-year-old Travis Lee Quay at this mobile home in Cato Township near Lakeview on Oct. 9, 2015.

Kotenko and a Michigan State Police trooper were entering the doorway of Quay's residence when Quay shot an arrow, striking Kotenko in the side. The trooper returned fire, killing Quay.

Kotenko was hospitalized for several days and on medical leave from the sheriff's office for two years before returning to work Monday, according to Shepherd Police Chief Luke Sawyer, who was also present when Kotenko was shot.
