(2/21/2018) - Authorities identified the mother and two young children who were found dead from a suspected double murder-suicide in Bangor Township on Tuesday.

Police say 31-year-old Nikita Landrum of Farmington Hills drove her two children to the Bay County Drain Maintenance Structure on Wheeler Road in Bangor Township and shot them to death before turning the gun on herself.

Her children were identified as 3-year-old Mikayla Walker and 2-year-old Daniel Walker. Mikayla was found sitting the back seat of the car while Daniel was lying outside.

Bay County Sheriff Troy Cunningham believes the case is a double murder-suicide, but the investigation hasn't been completed.

A worker at the Drain Maintenance Structure in Bangor Township found a car parked behind the building Tuesday morning.

The car, a Lincoln MKZ, was taken to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab in Bridgeport Township for further evidence collection.

It's unknown how long the car was behind the building, barely visible from Wheeler Road. The building is usually open Monday through Friday, but it was closed this Monday due to President's Day.
