GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP (WJRT) (2/21/2019) - A new fast casual burger chain is preparing to open in Grand Blanc Township.
Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers is renovating the former Halo Burger at 8020 Holly Road between Security Credit Union and Grand Blanc Storage. The 2,400-square-foot restaurant is expected to open in the late spring.
The building already has a drive thru and seating indoors and outside. About 35 employees will be hired, but jobs haven't been posted yet.
The menu includes more than a dozen gourmet burgers and alternative burgers, including the trademarked Impossible Burger. More than 40 toppings are available for BYOFB -- build your own Freakin' burger.
The restaurant also offers salads, chicken tenders, frozen custard and more.
The Grand Blanc Township location will be the second Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers franchised in Michigan. Grand Blanc residents Tom and Melissa Wissing are behind the new restaurant.
Freakin’ Unbelievable Burgers opened its first franchised location in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2016. The concept for the restaurant was created by former Flint residents.
The company owns a non-franchised location at 5100 Corunna Road in Flint Township, which opened in 2012.
Freakin’ Unbelievable Burgers is hoping to expand further in Michigan with a search under way for franchisees in Lansing, Saginaw and Grand Rapids.
