HURON COUNTY (WJRT) - (03/04/19) - State police have released new details about a deadly officer-involved shooting in Huron County.

Detectives identify the man who was killed as 49-year-old Ricky Lee Prichard. His autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

The incident started late Friday night when Huron County sheriff deputies and Sebewaing police officers were called to a home on Meissner Court.

When they arrived, they say Prichard was inside the house, armed with a handgun, along with his girlfriend and mother.

After a standoff that ended in the early hours of Saturday morning, officers say they were forced to enter after hearing gunshots. They say Prichard had shot his girlfriend.

When police went in, they say gunfire was exchanged. Prichard died at the scene.

Investigators say his mother was able to leave the house before the shootout started and was not hurt. Prichard's girlfriend is in stable condition.
