(11/27/2017) - People in Fenton, Fenton Township and Linden have a new place to take their dogs to get exercise this holiday season.

The new Thompson Road Regional Dog Park opened on Monday between Wiggins and Fenton Roads. The park is a cooperative agreement between the three municipalities.

Generous donations and work were provided by Lawrence Engineering, Cook Excavating, Home Depot and Signs by Cranie to make the park a reality. Genesee County is also donating 100 trees to plant throughout the park.

The park is free and open to the public.

"Have this opportunity to let your dog be able to run and have the freedom - and it keeps dogs friendly by being exposed to other animals," said Ruth Karabina.

A second phase of the park includes adding ball diamonds, soccer fields, a pavilion and exercise equipment. A fundraising campaign for that portion is expected to get under way soon.
