MT. MORRIS (WJRT) (10/10/2018) - Administrators at Mt. Morris Consolidated Schools say there was never a danger from a student caught with an Airsoft gun in school Wednesday.

School officials at Montague Elementary School received reports of the gun during the afternoon. The school liaison officer from Mt. Morris City Police Department immediately started investigating and quickly found the gun.

Superintendent Renae Galsterer said the gun was unloaded and not operable, so it posed no danger to any students or staff.

She did not say whether the student with the gun was disciplined, but noted that any type of guns in school "bring severe consequences with both school discipline and law enforcement involvement."

Galsterer encouraged parents in a letter sent home Wednesday afternoon to talk with children about making good choices.
