(7/13/2018) - The Ortonville man accused of seriously injuring a Burton couple in a hit-and-run motorcycle crash has been arraigned.

Scott Taylor, 57, appeared before a Genesee County judge Thursday to officially hear two charges of failure to stop at the scene of a crash resulting in serious impairment read against him.

Police say Taylor was driving a white Jeep east on Bristol Road on June 30 when he ran a stop sign at Belsay Road and sideswiped a motorcycle ridden by RJ and Courtney Ryan.

The crash caused RJ to lose part of his right leg while Courtney suffered serious fractures to her right leg. Both are home preparing for physical therapy.

After the Burton crash, police say Taylor continued east on Bristol Road into Lapeer County, where he alleged crashed into some parked vehicles. He then took off on foot and was arrested in Oakland County.

Police believe Taylor may have been driving drunk when the crashes happened. He is facing separate charges in Genesee and Lapeer counties stemming from each crash.
