MT. MORRIS TOWNSHIP (WJRT) (01/07/19) - It could be some time before prosecutors consider filing charges in last week's suspected overdose death of a Mt. Morris Township man that left his 6-year-old daughter alone.

Mt. Morris Township Police Chief Terence Green said the man's wife remains hospitalized after the ordeal and is still not cooperating with investigators as she recovers from her own overdose.

The man's daughter, who is just 6 years old, was home alone while they were incapacitated for 14 to 24 hours during the Jan. 3 ordeal

The girl woke up that Thursday to find them unconscious on a mattress. She threw water on her father and step-mother in hopes of waking them up, but neither regained consciousness.

The child eventually managed to take photos of them and alert a grandparent in Tennessee, who called police.

Green said unfortunately there's no way to determine a timeline for the case going forward because their priority is to interview the woman to learn more about what happened prior.

Toxicology results are also pending.
