Man arrested after dog is found with throat cut in garbage can

TUSCOLA COUNTY (WJRT) - UPDATE: (03/07/17) - Last month, we told you about a dog that was found with its jaw wrapped and its throat cut in a Tuscola County garbage can.

Now, they say an anonymous tip has lead them to an arrest.

Sixty-five-year-old Terrance Mathis has been arrested, charged with torturing and killing an animal.

The Sheriff's Office has not commented on a motive yet.

Mathis is from Kingston.

The dog's body is being examined at Michigan State.


(02/26/17) - Tuscola County Sheriff's deputies are trying to figure out who slashed the throat of a dog, throwing it in a garbage can.

The dog was found on White Creek Road and Mayville Road in Koylton Township last week.

His top jaw was wrapped and throat cut.

Deputies say the dog was neutered, healthy and a good weight.

The tan and white pit bull looked to be about five-years-old.

He had a black collar and leash with him in the trash can.
