TUSCOLA COUNTY (WJRT) (5/14/19) - The Tuscola County Sheriff's Office says a man accused in a hit-and-run crash last week was later found dead.

They believe 46-year-old Christopher Fredenburg of Birch Run died from a self-inflicted wound.

Deputies wanted to talk to Fredenburg after a crash on May 5 in Arbella Township, west of Millington. They say his Cheverolet pickup collided with a Ford Ranger, flipping it over.

The sheriff says a woman in the Ranger was badly hurt.

A witness told deputies the man in the Silverado pickup helped the woman get out of the truck before running off into a field. A K-9 team attempted to track him, but lost his scent in a body of water.

Deputies say Fredenburg’s body was found Saturday behind a residence on South Block Road. They did not disclose what caused his death.
