(08/19/17) - A Republican dinner event has been cancelled after the venue received threats.

G's Pizzeria Bar and Grill in Saginaw Township made the announcement Saturday on Facebook.

The venue called off the Republicans of Saginaw dinner event, which was slated for Sept. 11.

G's Pizzeria claimed that the private dinner was misconstrued as a "rally" on media outlets and social media.

In a post on Facebook, G's management said, "numerous amounts of threats, protest, and negative communication have been received by G's Pizzeria Bar and Grill of Saginaw".

The post also said, "G's Pizzeria does not have any tolerance for racial hatred and does not take a political stance as a business."

An advertisement for the event asked people to register at and had the words, "President Trump We've Got Your Back" on it.

The advertisement listed Rep. Tim Kelly, Dr. Jim Hines, Justice Bob Young Jr., and Sen. Patrick Colbeck as speakers.
