(10/29/2018) - The Catholic Diocese of Lansing removed a priest from St. John the Evangelist Parish in Fenton after complaints, including a credible allegation of sexual harassment.

The diocese announced Monday that the Rev. Matthew Joseph of India was sent back home Aug. 18 after serving one month as the parochial vicar for the Fenton congregation.

A statement from the church says it received several complaints about his ministry, including the sexual harassment allegations from an adult female.

Anyone else who believes they were harmed by Joseph or anyone representing the church is asked to call police or a toll free police hotline at 1-844-324-3374 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Anyone reporting sexual abuse of a minor can call Victim Assistance Coordinator Cheryl Williams-Hecksel at 1-888-308-6252.
