FLINT Twp. (WJRT) - (01/10/2019) - An SUV crashed into a home in Saginaw Friday night. Neighbors in the area said this wasn't the first crash that's happened to that house. However, the couple who lives in the home did not know its' history.
Lucy Ham is a real estate broker. She said researching the home first is very important.
"Go to the city it's in or the township and find out the records, what does it say on the records about it."
You can also talk to neighbors who have lived in the area for a long time.
"Neighbors love to tell you what they're neighbors have done, or how much this house sold for or this house didn't sell for very much," Ham said.
Ham said first-time home buyers may not think about getting a full inspection before signing on the dotted line.
"When you look at a house, you kind of get excited and you don't really look in the attic and the basement like you should."
A lot of people don't know what type of questions to ask.
"Asking the questions, brings out a lot of stuff, asking great questions, who, what, why and where," Ham said.
There's always those questions people are even afraid to bring up.
"Sometimes someone has passed away in the house, sometimes there's been a murder in the house," Ham said.
If you don't ask the realtor those sensitive questions, they are not obligated to tell you.
