DETROIT (WJRT) (12/6/2018) - Not all auto industry news is bad this month.
Fiat Chrysler is planning to open a new assembly plant in Detroit that will produce SUV models, according to a report on CNBC.
The news comes about 10 days after General Motors announced plans to slash 14,000 jobs and close five plants -- two of which are in the Detroit area.
The location of the proposed facility and the number of jobs it would create were not disclosed. Fiat Chrysler has not formally announced the plans.
