LANSING (WJRT) (12/26/2018) - Gov.-elect Gretchen Whitmer is calling for the return of state-funded bottled water distributions, according to a report from Michigan Advance.
During an interview with the publication, she was quoted as saying residents need bottled water "until the pipes are replaced." No specifics were provided on when or where water distributions would resume.
Gov. Rick Snyder ended state-funded bottled water for Flint residents in April, saying repeated water tests showed falling lead levels in the city's water well within federal guidelines.
Flint Mayor Karen Weaver has called for bottled water supplies to continue until all lead water service lines in the city are replaced, which is slated to happen next summer.
