SAGINAW COUNTY (WJRT) - (07/25/17) - Saginaw County is reporting an increase in West Nile virus.

Nine birds have been found dead with the disease.

Positive samples were found in nine different areas of the county.

Mosquitos that typically transmit West Nile prefer to bite birds over people and they thrive in hot, dry weather, not following rain.

They can be found in tires and neglected pools.
