SAGINAW COUNTY (WJRT) (12/6/2018) - Bruce Campbell has been a mainstay at McDonald's restaurants in Saginaw County for more than 30 years.
That's three decades of brightening people's days with his trademark smile, energy and positive attitude.
McDonald's recently recognized him and Sandra Boone for their 30 years of work at the location on Tittabawassee Road in Kochville Township.
Campbell worked for a couple years at the location across the from Dow Event Center before that.
“He was fun to be around. Energetic. Hard-working. He always had a smile on his face,” said Andy Hoag, who worked with Campbell for eight years.
Campbell interacts with customers every chance he gets using sign language or writing on a notepad that he carries with him. Hoag said Campbell's positive attitude was contagious for other McDonald's employees.
“He was so energetic and so kind, it was impossible not to have that influence on you. Before you knew it, everybody would get a smile on their face, as well,” Hoag said.
Campbell starts his workday at 5 a.m. -- and he used to start evening earlier. He rode his bike 5 miles each way to and the downtown Saginaw location, but he has a car now.
Campbell takes immense pride in handling maintenance and daily cleaning tasks.
Campbell has a knack for making friends through his work at McDonald's and attending dozens of local sports events, where he gets to know high school students.
“He gets invited to at least 10 graduation parties each year,” said Campbell’s sister, Lori Spence.
She was proud to see her brother recognized for all his contributions.
“He loves McDonald’s and he loves Saginaw,” Spence said.
