Michigan State Police identify Saginaw murder victim

SAGINAW (WJRT) (01/09/18) - The Michigan State Police have identified the man who was shot and killed overnight in Saginaw.

Troopers said Dominique Kenjwan Turner, 26, was killed in what was reported as a drive-by shooting.

A call came in to Saginaw County Central Dispatch just before 1 a.m. on Jan. 9.

Turner was found shot in the 2500 block of Lynnwood Avenue, near Morris Street.

The Major Crimes Unit, made up of MSP and Saginaw Police, is investigating.

"Somebody knows something, and it's just having the courage to come forward and say, 'this is what I know, this is what I saw'. And that can do a lot to push a case forward to solve it," said Lt. Jim Lang with the MSP Tri-City Post. "If it leads down a dead end, that's okay, we've eliminated that, we can focus on something else."

Turner is the first person to lose his life to gun violence in 2019.

"No matter if it's the first, the fifth, the tenth, the last, it's tragic. And that's why we're partnering with Saginaw to try and make a difference," Lang said.

If you have information about Turner's death you're asked to call Tpr. Farr at 989-439-3907 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL (5245).
