GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) (5/13/2019) - A Genesee County man has been arrested and accused of recording underage girls and a boy using a hidden camera.
Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell said the children were relatives of Matthew Walton. He is accused of filming them while he was babysitting them inside his home in Vienna Township.
Pickell said authorities began investigating when Walton went to the hospital and his wife picked up his phone to call his employer. She found the disturbing images and called police.
Walton is currently facing four charges:
-- Two counts of surveilling an unclothed person
-- Two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
Pickell believes more charges could be filed against Walton after investigators found more than 100 disturbing images on the Walton's home computer earlier this month.
Investigators believe those photos were taken by a camera hidden in the master bathroom of Walton's home. Pickell said those images show three teenage girls, an 11-year-old boy and Walton's wife in what should be private moments.
Investigators are also looking at Walton's work at General Motors for other possible evidence.
"There's a certain expectation of privacy. Even in the jail there's a certain expectation of privacy," Pickell said. "But when you are in your own home and you're being recorded going to the bathroom and taking a shower, it just transcends anything that you can reasonably believe to be private."
Walton was released on $12,000 bond after arraignment on the first four charges. Pickell believes Walton could face additional charges in the next week.
