GLADWIN COUNTY (WJRT) - (12/18/2018) - A mother and two of her children died in a house fire early Tuesday.
A neighbor called 911 just after 4 a.m. to report the fire on First Street in Beaverton. Crews found the home engulfed in flames when they arrived.
Deputies say a man and a teenager were able to escape and were taken to the hospital. Fire crews were searching for the bodies of the three victims after the flames were extinguished.
Police and family members on the scene identified the victims as a woman and her two young children. Her husband was taken to Hurley Medical Center in Flint for treatment of serious injuries.
Officials were not sure whether the teenager was injured.
Beaverton Fire Chief Matt Fruchey said the husband and the teen who survived the fire were out of the home when fire crews arrived. He said they are waiting for additional equipment before searching for Amy, Rocco and Lydia.
The structural integrity of the house is poor, causing danger for fire crews to get inside and search for the bodies. Fire crews asked people to avoid the area.
Fruchey said the fire appears to have started on the northwest corner of the house, but a specific cause was not immediately clear. Fire investigators planned to search for a cause Tuesday afternoon.
