MIDLAND COUNY (WJRT) (12/12/2017) - Police say a Midland woman lost control on a patch of slush before crossing the center line Monday, where she got hit by an oncoming truck.

Kristen Laughton, 25, was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash around 5:45 p.m. on South Eight Mile Road in Midland County's Lee Township.

According to the Midland County Sheriff's Office, Laughton was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry north on South Eight Mile Road near West Prairie Road when she hit slush and slid into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche heading southbound.

Tabatha Burch, 29, who was driving the Avalanche, was treated and released at the scene for a minor injury. Three people riding with her were not injured.

Police say everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
