(08/03/17) - A Genesee Township restaurant owner is upset and frustrated after thieves stole a smoker from his business.

It happened at Smokin Aces BBQ off Saginaw Road, north of Stanley in Genesee Township, sometime around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"It's one of a kind. I would know it in an instant, like my pet," said Smokin Aces owner Brandon Gifford.

He says the locked and chained smoker was stolen from the back of the business.

"This comes from an engineer and he builds one a year. There's not a duplicate out there. It's rolled steel," Gifford said.

He's not only out a smoker - he's out profit.

"I'm going to have people that are going to have no paychecks because they can't go work because I can't pump the volume out of the ribs and pulled pork," he said. "That thing does 300 pounds of pulled pork a week, 50 racks of ribs and 120 pounds of chicken, just off the top of my head."

Gifford says he's offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. In the mean time, getting another one is already in the works.

"I'm building another one. I called my welder, I'm ordering steel today. I'm coming up with dimensions," he said.

Gifford has filed a police report, but still just wants his smoker back.

Anyone with information is asked to call Genesee Township Police or Smokin Aces.
