MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) (2/11/2018) - Sunday will be wintry across Mid-Michigan, with up to 5 inches of new snow falling in some places.

The National Weather Service placed most of the region under a winter weather advisory from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The storm track shifted slightly north on Saturday, increasing the expected snowfall totals.

The Tri Cities area should receive about 3 to 5 inches of fresh snow before the system exits to the east Sunday afternoon. The Flint area down to I-69 could pick about the same.

The National Weather Service also is warning that a minor amount of freezing rain could accompany the system, mainly in the Metro Detroit area.

Roadways will be slick and snow covered throughout the day again after Friday’s 6 inches of snow around Flint and about 1 to 2 inches on Saturday.

High temperatures Sunday and Monday will stay in the mid-20s before warmer air with highs in the 40s builds in by mid-week.
