CARO (WJRT)- (04/06/19)- A State Senator is responding to an ABC 12 investigation about a new psychiatric hospital in Caro.
Construction on the $115 million dollar project came to a halt after Governor Whitmer took office.
The facility would have kept 300 jobs in Tuscola County.
ABC 12 requested emails between state officials regarding that decision.
State Senator Kevin Daley says its no surprise the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is against the project.
Daley said, "We cannot let the department continue to toy with our state's mental health services or the economic prosperity of a rural community that is already struggling."
The department recently announced that it has hired a consultant to review the decision to update the facility.
