Stretch of U.S. 10 in Midland County to be named after Marine killed in Iraq

MIDLAND COUNY (WJRT) (2/8/2018) - A permanent tribute will soon be up for Marine Lance Corporal Ryan Burgess.

The Midland County soldier was killed by an explosive in Iraq in 2006.

A bill now headed for Gov. Rick Snyder's desk would designate a stretch of U.S. 10 from Stark Road to River Road in Sanford as a memorial.

Those behind the highway designation hope it will remind people every day about the sacrifice Burgess made for fighting for America's freedom.
