FLINT (WJRT) (1/10/2019) - Students and staff at a charter elementary school on Flint's north side were locked down Thursday morning after a student brought a weapon inside.

School officials did not say what kind of weapon was involved. They say staff members immediately confiscated the weapon and called police.

The lock down ended around 11:15 a.m.

The Flint Police Department was at the school for more than an hour Thursday. Police officials at the scene declined to comment, but the department planned to host a press conference Thursday afternoon.

Parents are invited to a "Coffee with the Principal" event at 9 a.m. Friday to discuss the incident further.
