Study: Dozens of cereals, snack bars contain active ingredient in Roundup

(10/24/2018) - A new report says dozens of breakfast cereals and snack bars have trace amounts of a controversial herbicide.

The Environmental Working Group found that, out of 28 products, 26 tested positive for glyphosate, the active ingredient in the weed killer Roundup.

The report argues that long-term consumption of the foods tested, including Honey Nut Cheerios and Quaker Simply Granola Oats, may pose a cancer risk.

However, none of the foods violated EPA limits on the herbicide and the Environmental Working Group uses a far more conservative health benchmark.
