Suspected CMU shooter scheduled to be formally charged Tuesday

MT. PLEASANT (WJRT) - (03/06/18) - The Central Michigan University student accused of shooting and killing his parents is scheduled to be formally charged Tuesday afternoon.

The Isabella County Trial Court said James Eric Davis Junior's arraigment is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Online records do not show the 19-year-old has not been transferred to the jail. As of Monday afternoon Davis Jr. remained in the hospital.

An arrest warrant has been issued charging him with two counts of open murder and one count of felony firearm.

Central Michigan University Police, the lead agency in the double murder, believe Davis Jr. shot and killed his parents, James Davis Sr. and Diva Davis, in his Campbell Hall dorm room Friday morning. Police said he used a gun registered to Davis Sr. who was a part-time police officer in Illinois. Police have not said if the gun was his service weapon or a personal handgun.
